This machine was engineered and designed so that the bowl used to make your ice cream is the bowl you will be eating from. Cool right? This means fewer cleanups and easy eating. Traditional ice cream makers require you to scoop the ice cream from a canister before eating. With this ice cream maker, you don’t. Once the ice cream is ready, you can start eating it immediately.
Speaking of cleaning, this ice cream maker is very easy to clean. The top can be removed along with the motor. The other parts can then be soaked and washed. No hassle. It also takes up very little space. The two bowls can be stacked up and you can actually fit the whole ice cream maker back to its box with ease.
However, I did find a drawback. Rather it is actually a drawback with the manual itself, not the machine. The manual is too simple, lacking some questions that users are faced with. There isn’t an auto off button as well, so if you forget, the machine will keep churning your ice cream.
All in all, the Hamilton Beach Half Pint Soft Serve is a great ice cream maker to date. It’s small and easy to operate. I highly recommend it to those who are living alone or need ice cream for less than 3 people.

1. The machine makes ice cream with smooth texture
Initially, I wondered why the machine seems to churn out soft ice cream. After a few tries, I found out that you can easily harden the ice cream by placing it in the freezer for half a day. I enjoy both soft and hard ice cream. Texture wise, this machine makes a smooth, mean ice cream.
2. Does not break easily
John (my eldest child) was making some ice cream a month back when the Hamilton Beach 68330R 4-Quart Automatic Ice-Cream Maker accidentally slipped from his hand and fell onto our kitchen floor. Amazingly, it did not break or crack! After that incident we have been using the machine every other day and still no signs of breakdowns. Great quality indeed.
However,
I am kind of bothered by the noise. If you read the reviews in Amazon, some people think it’s okay while others simply can’t bear the noise. Honestly, I fall somewhere in between. I definitely don’t appreciate the noise but have made it a point to keep the kitchen door closed so that I won’t bother those in the living hall while I use the machine.
Bill bought the Hamilton Beach 68330R 4-Quart Automatic Ice-Cream Maker from Amazon and had this to say:
